Tour Overview

The Short Everest Base Camp Trek is a condensed version of the classic Everest Base Camp Trek, designed for experienced trekkers who want to reach the foothills of Mount Everest within a limited timeframe. This 10-day adventure offers an unforgettable journey through the legendary Everest Region, combining breathtaking mountain scenery, Sherpa culture, and the thrill of standing at the base of the world’s highest mountain.

Unlike the standard Everest Base Camp Trek, this itinerary does not include acclimatization days, making it suitable for physically fit and well-prepared travelers who have previous high-altitude trekking experience.

The adventure begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest Region. From Lukla, the trek follows the famous Everest Base Camp route through beautiful Himalayan landscapes, traditional Sherpa villages, and the spectacular Sagarmatha National Park.

During the trek, you will cross suspension bridges decorated with colorful prayer flags, walk through dense forests, pass ancient monasteries, explore charming mountain villages, and enjoy incredible views of some of the world’s most famous peaks.

Itinerary

Day 1

According to the schedule, you will hop into the scenic flight to Lukla. The flight will soon leave Kathmandu by flying above the hills. For 35 minutes, you will enjoy panoramic views of hills and snowy mountains across the window. Next, your aircraft will touch the runway to land you in Lukla. Officially, you will be in the Everest Region.

After the arrival and shortstop, you will start moving towards Phakding. You will take a path that descends from Lukla and takes you into the woods. The Dudh Koshi River will welcome you to give some excitement until Phakding. You will spend the evening in Phakding.

Day 2

It is time to say goodbye to Phakding and start approaching Namche Bazaar. You will take the Dudh Kohi banks once again. Now and then, you will use the prayer flag-dotted suspension bridges. You will also pass through several Sherpa villages as well. At Monjo, you will show your permits to enter the Sagarmatha National Park. The rest of the walk will happen through the green jungle of the park.

This day will make you cross several more suspension bridges. In the last stretch of the day’s trek, you will climb uphill to Namche Bazaar. And that climb will bring you to the streets of one of the iconic Himalayan towns. You will have a great evening stroll around the town and rest in Namche Bazaar.

Day 3

You will leave Namche Bazaar by taking an uphill trail. After the tricky part, you will reach a straight sandy area. It will be a gradual walk for some time. Soon ahead, you come across breathtaking sights of Ama Dablam, Everest, and others. The view will get only better.

After a picturesque walk, you must descend to the Imjatse River and enter Imja Valley. You will cross several villages along the promenade, including Phunki-Tenga. At Phunki-Tenga, you will have a break and lunch. Once you feel like going, you will have a winding uphill path through Rhododendron. You will gradually climb that part to reach Tengboche, the village of Tengboche Monastery. The town will bestow mesmerizing views of mountains for arrival. Overnight in Tengboche.

Day 4

In the morning, you will descend from Tengboche through a lush forest. It will be a relaxing walk among the trees of Rhododendron. The downhill walk will take you to the banks of the Imjatse River. Here, you will use a hanging bridge to cross the river and walk into a dry zone. Now you are moving closer to Pangboche, a traditional Sherpa village.

At Pangboche, you will rest briefly to catch your breath and see mesmerizing views of the vicinity. Next, you will ascend the valley to reach Dingboche. The clear vision of MT Ama Dablam will make it hard to trek. But you will ramble ahead to cross Shomare village. After the village, you will take a winding trail and a suspension bridge. You will reach Dingboche this way.

Day 5

It’s time to leave Dingboche. To do so, you will briefly climb a hill dotted with prayer flags and monuments. The path after the slope is easy and gradual. You will walk with mountains such as Taboche and Cholatse in the backdrop. After walking for some hours, you will reach Thugla village. You will stop there for a lunch break.

Following the break, you will do a slow climb to another hilltop. That hilltop contains prayer flags and memorials of lost souls in the mountains. The place is beautiful and emotional at the same time. After some minutes there, you will continue the gradual climb to Lobuche. You will see Lobuche village coming right beneath the Lobuche peak. Overnight in Lobuche.

Day 6

After a memorable night in Lobuche, you will leave the place to start a big day. Today, you will trek to Everest Base Camp and return to Gorakshep’s teahouse. It will be one of the most challenging days of the Short Everest Base Camp Trek. Leaving Lobuche behind, you will trek on rough terminal moraines to reach Gorakshep, the last teahouse point on Everest Base Camp.

Firstly, you will reach Gorak Shep to check in and unload yourself in a teahouse. Next, you will eat lunch and rest to start the second task of the day. It is time to stroll toward Everest Base Camp. The walk will happen side by side of the Khumbu Glacier. After some scenic hours of trekking, you will reach the landmark. Amazing sightseeing will be done. Grasping the place, you will take a road back to Gorak Shep by retracing. Overnight in Gorak Shep.

Day 7

It will be another big day of the Shorty Everest Base Camp Trek. This time, you must scale Kalapatthar, the best place to watch Mt Everest. From Gorakshep, you will take a gradual climb to Kala Patthar. Khumbu Glacier will give you good company for a while. The walk will happen early to watch the sunrise on Mt Everest.

You will reach Kala Patthar soon after. And you will witness the best version of Mt Everest from Kala Patthar(5,545m). Following the great moment, you will descend to Gorak Shep through the same route. And after having breakfast in Gorakshep, you will move towards Pheriche village. It will be mostly downhill, and the trek will take place until Pangboche.

Day 8

Now it is time to trace back to Namche Bazaar. It will be a long trekking day through the same trail back to Namche Bazaar. All the good things will repeat as you retrace back to Namche Bazaar. It will also be a long trekking day, but you will love it. The trail is downhill and accessible today. After 6-7 hours of walking and enjoying the Everest Region, you will reach back to the hustle of Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 9

This will be the last trekking day of the Short Everest Base Camp Trek. You will try to enjoy the day to the fullest. Like the earlier day, this day is going to be a long one too. You will take an enjoyable walk out of Namche Bazaar to cross lush woods, suspension bridges, Sherpa villages, and more. It is the day to recall the trek’s first and second day. Enjoying the walk, you will reach Lukla. Overnight in Lukla

Day 10

It is time to bid goodbye to the Everest Region. After breakfast, you will get ready for the scenic flight to Kathmandu. If everything is okay, the flight will happen on time. The following 35 minutes will be on the skies of Nepal. Very soon, you will land back in Kathmandu. On your arrival, you will return to the hotel for a rest. And it will be the end of the trek.
