Arrive in Kathmandu and settle into your accommodation. Meet your program coordinator and receive an introduction to the retreat, Himalayan shamanism, and the learning approach. The day provides an opportunity to understand what to expect from the week ahead.
Explore the foundations of Himalayan shamanic cosmology and traditional belief systems. Learn about rituals, sacred practices, and their cultural context through guided teachings and discussions. The sessions introduce the worldview that underpins many traditional shamanic practices.
Learn about traditional shamanic ceremonies and the role of drums, chants, mantras and ritual objects. Where permitted, observe a traditional ceremony and gain insight into its cultural and spiritual significance. The focus remains on respectful learning and observation.
Visit selected sacred sites and local shrines around the Kathmandu Valley with your guide and teachers. Discover the stories, traditions, and spiritual significance associated with these places. The day combines cultural exploration with teachings connected to Himalayan spiritual traditions.
Take part in practical introductory sessions involving meditation, chanting, and ritual preparation. Learn selected shamanic practices under appropriate guidance while developing a deeper understanding of their traditional context. Time is also provided for reflection and discussion.
Explore the cultural heritage of Patan or Bhaktapur and discover how spiritual traditions are reflected in Nepal's architecture, art, temples, and community life. Guided interpretation connects the cultural excursion with broader Himalayan spiritual traditions.
Complete the retreat with final teachings, reflection, and an open discussion with the shaman. Review key themes and experiences from the week and ask final questions about the traditions explored. Receive course completion confirmation or a certificate if provided by the training centre.
