Tour Overview

Discover Senegal: Although Senegal has plenty to offer, you might easily spend your whole time soaking in the sights and sounds of busy Dakar, the country’s city and West African gateway. But don’t be seduced; there are more wonderful sights to visit than you have time for. Get away from Dakar and discover some of Senegal’s hidden treasures, such as Pink Lake, a remarkable phenomenon situated only an hour from Dakar, where the high concentration of salt and bacteria gives the water its distinctive pink hue.

A twenty-minute ferry voyage brings you to Goree Island, where the calm environment and pastel-colored cottages betray the island’s horrific past. If you’re in the Dakar area on Sunday, plan to spend a few hours at Abbaye de Keur Moussa, a Benedictine abbey founded in the early 1900s where Sunday mass is performed with traditional African musical instruments including Koras, Balafons, and Soft Drums.
