Itinerary

Day 1

(Lunch included)

Your day begins with a convenient pickup from your hotel in Izmir. We depart early morning towards Sardes (Sart), the ancient capital of the Lydian Kingdom and one of the Seven Churches of Asia. Explore the magnificent Temple of Artemis, once dedicated to one of the most important deities in the ancient world, and the Temple of Cybele, which was later transformed into a Byzantine church. Visit the restored gymnasium and the reconstructed synagogue, showcasing the cultural diversity of this historic city.

Next, walk along the remnants of the royal Persian road, built by Cyrus the Great, leading from Susa to Sardes. Experience the legend of the golden Pactolos River, known for its historical significance in ancient times.

After a delicious local lunch, continue your journey to Philadelphia (modern-day Alasehir), the only one of the Seven Churches that was not criticized in the Book of Revelation. Here, you will see the remains of a Byzantine basilica with its beautiful high arches and well-preserved 11th-century frescoes.

Following the exploration, you will be comfortably transferred back to your hotel in Izmir.
