Itinerary

Day 1

According to the geographer Strabon, the Akhas established Perge following the Trojan Wars. In 334 BC, Alexander the Great passed through Perge, and it later came under the control of Pergamon during the Roman era. By the first and second centuries BC, Perge had become one of the wealthiest towns in Pamphylia, making it an appropriate starting point for St. Paul's campaign in Anatolia in 46 AD.

After visiting Perge, we will continue our tour to Aspendos. Enjoy a lunch break on the way, before reaching this historic city located in the Pamphylian plain, east of Antalya. In 486 BC, Greeks and Persians clashed in a great battle here, with the Greeks emerging victorious. The theater in Aspendos, which was built during the rule of the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius and was maintained by the Byzantines and Seljuks, is the best preserved of all.

During ancient times, Side held a crucial position as a port city in Pamphylia. Significant historical structures within the region include the Great Gate, located at the entrance of the ancient city, as well as the Side Ancient Fountain. The Side Ancient Theater is one of the few remaining ancient theaters with minimal damage. Side is renowned for the iconic Apollo temple it houses. We will have half an hour of free time for shopping in Side.
