Jomo Kenyatta International Airport
Jomo Kenyatta International Airport
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a Fly Beyond Africa Tours & Travel representative and transferred to your hotel.
After check-in, relax after your international journey. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a short city excursion or dinner at a local restaurant.
Highlights: Airport meet-and-greet, hotel transfer and safari briefing.
Meals: Dinner, depending on arrival time.
After breakfast at your hotel, depart with your professional driver-guide for a full-day wildlife and conservation experience in Nairobi. Discover Kenya's remarkable wildlife, learn about elephant rescue and rehabilitation, and encounter endangered Rothschild's giraffes.
1. Nairobi National Park
Begin your day with a game drive at Nairobi National Park, one of the few wildlife parks located next to a major capital city. Explore its open grasslands, acacia woodland and riverine habitats while searching for lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, ostriches and endangered black rhinos.
Enjoy the unique scenery of wildlife roaming freely against the backdrop of Nairobi's skyline. Your experienced driver-guide will share insights into animal behaviour, the park's ecosystem and Kenya's wildlife conservation efforts.
2. Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
Continue to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's Nairobi Nursery for a scheduled public visit. This renowned conservation organisation rescues and rehabilitates orphaned elephants, with the goal of returning them to the wild.
During your visit, learn about the elephants' rescue stories, their rehabilitation journey and the dedicated work of their keepers. You will have the opportunity to observe the young elephants during their feeding and mud-bath session.
Important: Public visits require advance booking and are subject to the Trust's visiting arrangements. The safari schedule should be planned around the confirmed visit.
3. Lunch in Karen
After the elephant nursery visit, enjoy lunch at a selected restaurant in the Karen or Lang'ata area. Relax and sample local or international cuisine before continuing with the afternoon's conservation experience.
4. Giraffe Centre
Proceed to the Giraffe Centre in Lang'ata, a conservation and environmental education centre dedicated to the endangered Rothschild's giraffe.
Observe the giraffes from the elevated viewing platform and learn about the conservation initiatives that protect this threatened species. You may also have the opportunity to feed the giraffes using the approved food provided by the centre.
Depending on your interests and available time, explore the nature trail or visit the gift shop for souvenirs.
5. Return to Your Nairobi Hotel
After the visit, return to your hotel to relax and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. Your tour representative can reconfirm your domestic flight arrangements and transfer details for the following day's Maasai Mara safari.
After Breakfast check out from your city hotel for your transfer to Wilson Airport in Nairobi for a scheduled morning flight to the Maasai Mara. Enjoy aerial views of the Great Rift Valley and the spectacular Kenyan countryside.
On arrival at the designated airstrip, your safari guide will welcome you and transfer you to your lodge or tented camp. Wildlife viewing may begin during the transfer, depending on the airstrip and route.
After lunch and check-in, relax briefly before departing for an afternoon game drive across the reserve's rolling grasslands. Look out for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, lions and other wildlife.
Return to camp as the sun sets, followed by dinner and an overnight stay in the African wilderness.
Start early with a morning game drive when wildlife is often active and the savannah is bathed in soft morning light.
With your experienced driver-guide, explore different sections of the reserve in search of the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. Other wildlife commonly seen includes cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, topis, impalas, zebras and wildebeest.
Return to the lodge for breakfast, or arrange a packed breakfast and lunch for an extended game drive. A full-day excursion offers more time to explore the plains and, when conditions permit, areas around the Mara River.
Return to camp in the late afternoon for relaxation, dinner and overnight accommodation.
Optional experience: A hot-air balloon safari at sunrise, usually followed by a bush breakfast, can be arranged at an additional cost and subject to availability.
Wake up to the sounds of the African bush and enjoy breakfast at camp. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for a short morning game drive before transferring to the airstrip.
Board your scheduled flight towards the Kenyan coast. Depending on the airline, season and operating timetable, the journey may be direct or may require a connection through Nairobi's Wilson Airport.
Upon arrival at Ukunda Airstrip, serving Diani Beach, you will be met by your transfer representative and driven to your beachfront hotel or resort.
Check in and enjoy lunch or refreshments before spending the afternoon relaxing beside the pool or walking along Diani's white-sand beach.
In the evening, enjoy dinner at the resort and the warm coastal atmosphere.
Highlights: Scenic domestic flight, beach arrival and a relaxing transition from the wilderness to the Indian Ocean.
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast overlooking the tropical surroundings of your beach resort. Today is dedicated to enjoying Diani at your own pace.
Spend the morning swimming where conditions are safe, relaxing on the beach, enjoying the resort facilities or taking a peaceful walk along the coastline.
Optional activities may include kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkelling or other supervised water activities, subject to sea conditions and availability.
After lunch, enjoy leisure time at the resort or explore nearby shops and cafés. In the evening, experience coastal cuisine featuring fresh seafood and Swahili-inspired dishes.
Highlights: Beach relaxation, resort facilities and optional water sports.
After breakfast, you may choose an optional full-day excursion to Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Protected Area, a popular destination for exploring Kenya's coastal marine environment.
Depending on the selected excursion, travel towards the Shimoni area and board a boat for a trip into the marine reserve. Enjoy the turquoise waters, coral reef scenery and opportunities to observe marine life.
Snorkelling may be available for suitable participants when sea conditions allow, with equipment and safety guidance arranged by the operator. Dolphins may occasionally be sighted, but encounters are not guaranteed.
Some excursions include a seafood or Swahili-style lunch and time to appreciate the coastal scenery before returning to Diani in the afternoon.
Spend the evening relaxing at your resort.
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before checking out. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have a little time to enjoy the beach or the resort facilities.
Your driver will transfer you to Ukunda Airport for your domestic flight to Nairobi. On arrival, connect with your onward international flight or arrange a transfer to your Nairobi hotel.
Flight schedules should be coordinated carefully to allow sufficient time for check-in, baggage collection and any required airport transfer between Wilson Airport and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
End of safari and beach holiday: Depart with wonderful memories of Kenya's wildlife, landscapes and Indian Ocean coastline.
