An early morning chimpanzee trek in Kibale forest

Itinerary

Day 1

You’ll be personally met by our company representative upon arrival at Entebbe airport, and transfer to The Boma Hotel for overnight.

Day 2

Leave Entebbe after breakfast (7:00 am) for the fascinating drive through papyrus swamps and thick jungle of the Africa to Kibale National Park just under the Rwenzori Mountains. Afternoon guided walk in the crater lakes area of the park for outstanding cultural visit (approximately 5 – 6 hours’ drive)

Meals and overnight at Turaco Treetops Lodge (FB)

Day 3

Early morning trek for chimpanzees. Kibale is the best reserve in Africa to view chimps, a thick jungle with a towering canopy. In the afternoon, drive to the south into Queen Elizabeth National Park, sightseeing and game viewing enroot (approximately 3 – 4 hours’ drive)

Dinner and overnight Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge (FB)

Day 4

Dawn game drive in Uganda’s best park, where all the big game can be seen in abundance. Famous for elephant and kob, expect to see some rarer animals like giant forest hog. There are 638 recorded bird species in the park! After lunch, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel which connects Lakes Edward and George, for large numbers of buffalo and hippo.

Day 5

Early morning drive to Ishasha sector to look for the tree African climbing lions and thereafter drive to Bwindi via the landscape of tea plantations (approximately 5 – 6 hours’ drive)

Day 6

Begin the day with breakfast ready for trekking, which begins at 7:30am with a briefing. Ensure to carry along with you rain jacket, drinking water, snacks, jungle boots etc. The guides will lead you inside the jungle to see the shy Primates for a group you have been booked for. Do not forget to take your lunch boxes and all the necessary gear to track the rare Mountain Gorilla, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. It is most rewarding animal-based experience that clients get and others would definitely do it again if given the opportunity. The tracking may take between 2 to 10 hours but its well worth the effort. There is always an option to hire a local porter) who will carry your bag and literally, push you up the hills if necessary!

Day 7

Return to Kampala in the morning with stop over at Equator Uganda crossing and for cultural activities Mpambire drum makers for a brief photo opportunity and to shop souvenirs. Transfer to Entebbe for the evening flight back home (approximately 8 – 9 hours’ drive)
