Itinerary

Day 1

Meet at the Elazig Airport and transfer to your hotel. You will be given your room key and the rest of the day is yours to explore Elazig. Overnight in Elazig.

Day 2

(Breakfast Included)

Pick up from your hotel in the morning and depart for Elazig city tour. Our first visit will be Buzluk Cave. Due to the geomorphological feature and shape of the cave and the climatological conditions, the summer foot naturally has ice in the distance. In winter, ice cannot form. Therefore, the underground draft is hot in winters and cold in summers. There are very few such caves in the world. Then we will continue to Elazig Great Mosque. It is one of the oldest mosques in Anatolia. Most probably built in 12th century. Sources are not clear for the mosque. Then continue to the Virgin Mary Church; on the road we will see Harput Castle, which was founded by the Urartu Kingdom in the 8th century BC. From the 6th century BC, it came under the domination of the Persians. Between the 1st century BC and the 11th century AD, it witnessed great struggles between the Parthian, Roman, Sassanid, Byzantine and Abbasid, and continued under Byzantine rule until the end of the 11th century. Then, continue to Virgin Mary Church, since the west wall is formed by the rock masses of the castle, the church seems to be buried within the rocks of the castle. One of the oldest shrines in Anatolia, the Virgin Mary Church is also known as the Red Church, the Syriac Church and the Yakubi Church. After the church we will visit to Kursunlu Mosque. It is one of the most beautiful examples of Ottoman Period mosques in Harput. It was built between 1738 - 1739. The mosque has a rectangular plan. The square planned harim is covered with a dome. There are four windows in the dome drum. It got this name because its domes are covered with lead. Then we will continue to Elazig Archaeology and Ethnography Museum. The museum building consists of three sections: archaeological artifacts and coin hall, carpet and rug gallery, and ethnography hall. After the tour transfer to your hotel in Elazig, overnight in Elazig.

Day 3

(Breakfast and lunch included)

After breakfast, we take our guests from the hotel and depart to a local restaurant for your professional cooking lesson. Another special flavor is cold soup, which is loved in summer months. Cold buttermilk is also known as vaccine or Harput soup. Boiled beforehand and waiting for 1 night, it meets with yogurt and chickpeas. This flavor is very famous in Elazig as it is in neighboring provinces. Sirin, the thin dough sheets opened with a rolling pin are cut into strips and baked in the oven by taking the form of rolls. Garlic yogurt and oily sauce are also added. It is a simple but quite satisfying taste. Harput meatballs are a delicious, local main dish where meatballs prepared with a lean ground beef, fine bulgur and basil are blended with tomato sauce. Dolanger Dessert. The layers of dough, which are opened in layers, take their special shape and meet with warm sherbet. Adding the cream, it creates a great taste. Patile, in the originally opened dough, only onion roast is added to the original, but there are also versions with cheese, ground meat and potatoes. It is indispensable for breakfasts and tea times. After lunch you will depart to city center for free time and shopping before returning to your hotel. After free time continue to hotel. Overnight in Elazig.

Day 4

(Breakfast included)

After breakfast, we will pick you up from the hotel and take you to the Hamam (Turkish Bath). Turkish Bath is quite a popular part of Turkish culture and it is being practiced all around the country therefore it will be nice to experience this activity. The visit is arranged depending on your wish and the available hours of the Hamam. After the Hamam, we will depart to city center for free time and shopping before returning to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight in Elazig.

Day 5

(Breakfast included)

We will pick you up from the hotel in the morning. Our first stop will be Circir Waterfall, where we will enjoy the view. Then continue to Saklikapi Canyon, which attracts the attention of those who see it; the natural wonder canyon called "Saklikapi" is located in the village of Akusagi in the Baskil district of Elazig. The natural wonder canyon is about 4 km long and one end of the canyon opens to the Euphrates River. After the tour, transfer back to your hotel. Overnight in Elazig.

Day 6
