Itinerary

Day 1

Today we continue trekking in the north range of Allay Valley (Trans-Alay). From Sary-Mogol to the trailhead, we go by car (1h), then the trek starts. It will be a bit challenging as we ascend Sary-Mogol Pass (4270 m) and visit Besh-Kol Lake. The route takes 6–8 hours of walking on rocky paths. At the top, enjoy the stunning scenery of Besh-Kol Lake, then continue to the yurt camp on the other side.

  • Ascent / Descent: 910 / 790 m

  • Note: Local families Orozgul and her daughter Aigul provide yurts for overnight stay (shared living) with flush toilet, so travelers don’t need to carry much.
Day 2

Head east following the river and slightly descending through the beautiful mountain gorge. Enjoy grand views of the Kichik Alay / Trans-Alay mountains. First, we cross a small village under Sary-Mogol. After 2–3 hours, the trail turns right onto a dirt road, and we reach Kyzyl-Chara village for lunch at a homestay or café. Continue to the yurt camp in Koshmoinok.

  • Note: Local family from Kyzyl-Shoro (Begali & Nurdoolot) provide solar-heated shower, running water, and toilets. There are 2 shared yurts and a dining hut.
Day 3

Trek along the trail with panoramic views of Sary-Bel Pass (3150 m) and untouched nature, accompanied by the sounds of birds and rivers. This scenic trail leads to the picturesque Kojo-Kelen Village, known for its red rock formations and authentic charm.

Evening Experience in Kojo-Kelen:

Upon arrival, settle into a cozy homestay with warm Kyrgyz hospitality. Before dinner, take a short walk to discover:

  • Waterfall: A hidden cascade, perfect for relaxation and photography.
  • Blue Cave Pool: A magical turquoise pool inside a natural cave—ideal for a quick dip or admiring its beauty.

End the evening with a stroll around the village and enjoy a hearty dinner of local dishes.

Day 4

Follow the tranquil path along the Ak-Buura River, winding through gorges, lush valleys, and dramatic landscapes of southern Kyrgyzstan. As you ascend, enjoy the crisp air and increasing views. The trail leads to Bolot’s Yurt Camp at the foothills of Jiptik Pass.

  • Hiking time: ~5 h (excluding breaks)
  • Ascent / Descent: 1000 / 10 m
  • Highest / Lowest points: 3225 / 2220 m
  • Accommodation altitude: 3040 m | 9975 ft
  • Accommodation type: Yurt (3–4 people per yurt, beds on traditional mattresses, no high sofas)

Day 5

After breakfast, ascend Jiptik Pass (4185 m) and enjoy panoramic views of Pamir-Alay Valley and Lenin Peak (7134 m). Have lunch at the top and take photos. Then descend through Darbaza-Tash, followed by a 30-min transfer to Sary-Mogol.
