Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide from Akagera Aviation. After a brief introduction, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. Take some time to relax and enjoy dinner at the hotel. Kigali is renowned for its cleanliness, safety, and welcoming atmosphere—an ideal starting point for your Rwandan adventure.

Day 2

After breakfast, embark on a guided city tour beginning with the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a moving tribute to Rwanda’s history. Proceed to the vibrant Kimironko Market, known for its colorful produce and crafts. Enjoy lunch in Kigali before departing for Akagera National Park, a scenic drive of approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and unwind for the evening, surrounded by the park's diverse savannah and wetland landscapes.

Day 3

Start your day with an early morning game drive across the savannah in search of the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino—as well as giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and a variety of bird species. Return to the lodge for lunch or enjoy a picnic inside the park. In the afternoon, take a relaxing boat safari on Lake Ihema, where you’ll encounter hippos, crocodiles, and water birds such as African fish eagles and herons.

Day 4

After breakfast, depart Akagera and drive back to Kigali for a lunch break, then continue to Musanze, the base town near Volcanoes National Park. This scenic journey takes around 5.5 hours in total. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and enjoy panoramic views of the majestic Virunga volcanoes. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax and prepare for the gorilla trekking adventure ahead.

Day 5

Wake up early and transfer to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a briefing before your gorilla trek. Accompanied by expert guides, trek through the misty forest for 2 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family. Spend a magical hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat. After lunch and some rest at the lodge, take an afternoon excursion to the picturesque Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, known for scenic views and cultural encounters.

Day 6

After breakfast, check out and drive back to Kigali, a journey of about 2.5 hours. Depending on your flight schedule, you may stop by a local coffee shop, art gallery, or craft market for some final shopping or relaxation. You’ll then be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, concluding your unforgettable Rwandan safari.
