Breakfast. Day trip to two UNESCO world heritage sites. The first stop is the Boyana Church, remarkable with its amazingly well-preserved and very unique frescoes from the 13th century. After that, you will continue to the Rila Monastery (a 2-hour drive), the biggest monastery in Bulgaria, which will enchant you with its beauty. There you will learn about its emergence and the life of Saint John of Rila – the most important Bulgarian saint. You will also have an included visit to the monastery museum and an authentic monk room! Free time for lunch. Transfer back to the hotel in Sofia. Overnight in Sofia.

Breakfast. Day trip to Plovdiv (2-hour drive) – considered to be the oldest existing town in Europe and its capital of culture for 2019. There you will have a 2-hour guided tour during which you will learn about its ancient history and you will discover its very well preserved and restored heritage: the Roman forum, stadium and theater, the main walking street (which is the longest pedestrian street in Europe), the Revival old town with its beautiful houses and cobblestone streets, the remains of the old fortress and the beautiful panoramic views from there. After that you will have some free time for lunch and shopping. The expected return to Sofia is at 6pm. Overnight in Sofia.
