Amasya is one of the provinces which is distinct both with its natural setup and historical values it holds. It was the homeland of the famous geographer Strabo. Located in a narrow cleft of the Yesilirmak (Iris) river, it has a history of 3000 years during which many civilizations left priceless remains of their times. Hattusha and Yazilikaya that we will visit on the way to Amasya hold a very significante palce for Hittite Civilization.

Itinerary

Day 1

(Lunch and dinner included)

Pick up between 8:30 am - 9:30 am from your hotel in Ankara City Center. After about 2,5 - 3 hours drive we reach Hattusha area where we will visit Hattusha, the Hittite Capital that was registered to Unesco World Heritage List in 1986. Hattusha dates back to 13th century and even further back. The archaeological site of Hattusha, former capital of the Hittite Empire, is notable for its urban organization, hosts the types of construction that have been well preserved i.e. temples, royal residences, fortifications, the rich ornamentation of the Lions' Gate and the Royal Gate, and the ensemble of rock art at Yazilikaya. The city enjoyed considerable influence in Anatolia and northern Syria in the 2nd millennium B.C. As well as above mentioned stuctures you will see the famous rock sanctuary of Yazılıkaya which was an open-air temple with twon atural chambers cut into the bedrock. In Yazılakaya, a sacred and memorial place for Hittites, you will also see the famous Twelve Hittite gods of the underworld. After lunch we will head fro Amasya which will take about 2,5 hours drive. Once we reach, transfer you to your hotel in Amasya andcheck in. The rest of time is yours. Dinner at hotel. Overnight in Amasya.

Day 2

After breakfast we will pick you up from your hotel and we will start Amasya City Tour. Amasya is one of the provinces which is distinct both with its natural setup and historical values it holds. It was the homeland of the famous geographer Strabo. Located in a narrow cleft of the Yesilirmak (Iris) river, it has a history of 3000 years during which many civilizations left priceless remains of their times. During the tour we will be seeing the ROCK TOMBS of Pontus Kingdom from 4th cent BC. Then we will see the beautiful MANSIONS ON THE RIVER FRONT which are from 18 hundreds and reflect typical local architecture of its time. Next we will visit SEHZADELER (Ottoman Prince) MUSEUM. Here you can see the clothes, sculprutes and different itemsrelated to Sehzade’s. After that we will visit Amasya ARCHEAOLOGY MUSEUM where archealogical artifacts found in and nearby places around the city as well as ethnographic items related to history and cultural life are being exhibited. Next we will have lunch and will head back to Ankara. After about 5 hours drive we will drop you back to your hotel in Ankara.
